A nonprofit public organization, Winn Feline Foundation enhances the relationship between cats and humans by fostering improvements in feline health through research and education.  The foundation was established in 1968 by the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) with an initial $125 donation. Through this partnership, Winn Feline Foundation has awarded more than $5.75 million in research grants by the end of 2015 that have changed cats’ lives. Winn has also partnered with Zoetis, the animal health arm of Pfizer, in a 2014 joint grant program which offers support through training and education, research and development, investing in the future of the veterinary profession and philanthropy.

Winn Feline Foundation strives to provide veterinarians and the public with access to cutting-edge feline health news and research through various resources including access to cat health articles and grant summaries, their Cat Health News Blog, e-newsletters, published journal articles, podcasts, and videos. Winn sponsors continuing education programs and an annual symposium on feline health topics for veterinarians, technicians, breeders and cat lovers as well as co-sponsors international veterinary conferences.

Winn Feline Foundation and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) have partnered again in 2017 to provide two $2500 scholarships for veterinary students enrolled in an accredited veterinary college or school in the United States or Canada with a feline practice interest and a clinical scientific research interest. Also, Winn Feline Foundation and the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) offers a joint scholarship of $2500 to veterinary students with an interest in feline medicine. The Cat Health Network (CHN), founded in 2011 by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation, Morris Animal Foundation (MAF), Winn Feline Foundation and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), is committed to making a significant difference in the health and welfare of domestic cats by funding targeted health studies. Overseen by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation, Winn became an associate member in the Partners for Healthy Pets in 2012. This partnership’s goal is to help reduce preventable diseases by urging pet owners to schedule veterinary checkups at least once per year. Winn Feline Foundation and VetVine, an online community of pet owners and veterinary medical professionals, work together as educational partners to readers of the latest information on cat health via their website, blogs, and newsletters.

Contributions to the Winn Feline Foundation funds research that helps veterinarians improve treatment of common feline health problems and aid in the prevention of life-threatening diseases. Winn’s various funds allow you to choose where to you allocate your gift. The General fund supports health studies applicable to all cats. Endowment donations are invested and income is used for future programs and operations. Special campaigns related to specific areas of interest offer other ways to give. Supporters can also be a part of the future of feline research through memorials, recurring gifts, and matching employer gifts as well as planned giving via the many kinds of estate gifts.
